SPOOKIE COUNT

Breaks Previous Years Record Attendance

The Whitney's Downtown Merchants Association

invited all downtown businesses to participate in the annual Trick or Treat Halloween event on October 29th, 2011.

According Ron Roberts, of Syn-Con Residential & Commercial Construction Company, the candy count blew out the top of his wife, Carla's, witch hat this year.

Ron said, "Compared to last years candy count of around  890 pieces we passed out from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., this year's  candy count reached just shy of 1000 pieces in a shorter amount of time. By 7:30 this year, the candy supplies were running low from all merchants. This event has grown every year since they've started it, many years ago."

There were more ghoulies than candy!. White Bluff sets up their "treat" station next to Ron & Carla and  were prepared to gift 1,100 pencils to the ghouls. By 7:20 White Bluff's pencil count reached 969 !

Morticia Adams, of The Adams Family, visited the Lake Whitney Views office and gave away 300 spider rings to the kiddos (with 10 of the rings turning into "jumping spiders") and landed in her hair which prevented her gifting them to the trick or treaters. Mrs. Gomez Adams enjoyed taking these photos of all the beautifully dressed little and BIG people that dropped by for a vampire repellant ring or a snapshot! Hopefully NEXT year will bring even more FUN & GAMES for all to share!

Please remember folks all photos are copyrighted!

New Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting Held In Cranfills Gap

CLIFTON — A new group of Alcoholics Anonymous has begun to meet just outside of Cranfills Gap in Bosque County. The group meets Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., and meeting began on Sept. 12.

The meetings are open to anyone who thinks they may have a problem with alcohol. Family members and friends are also welcome to attend.

The group meets in a structure on Private Road 4208, just north of FM 219. By vote of those attending the first meeting this is a non-smoking meeting. A smoking area is set up on the porch, and those who want to smoke during the meeting are welcome to step outside to smoke.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other, that they may solve their common problems and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees; the group strives to be self-supporting through its own contributions.

The group in “The Gap” joins the recovery community in Bosque County which also include The Meridian Group, which meets Monday and Wednesday at 8 p.m., and Thursdays at 12:15 pm., at 116-B North Main, in the Brantley Building, next door to the Meridian Public Library.
